Confidentiality is vital for psychotherapy to be effective. However, I believe that when working in private practice it is important to liaise with other professionals involved in the care of the child/adolescent (if given consent from the parents/carers).  Hence, I appreciate that general feedback in relation the therapy process may be valuable to Psychiatrists, GPs, Psychologists, and Social Workers. I also understand that there are limits to confidentiality in certain circumstances in particular when the young person self-harms, discloses suicidal ideations, where there is a child protection concern, or in the case of an emerging psychiatric illness.

It is my policy that if a child/adolescent discloses self-harm or suicidal ideations he/she needs to be seen by his/her GP as soon as possible.

I was Garda Vetted by ICP (The Irish Council for Psychotherapy) in August 2016, and PCI College in 2020. I keep up to date with Child Protection Training. A CV, References and Diplomas are available on request.

Success! Message received.
